Through December 31, 2023
Our latest pop-up exhibition in the History Center’s lobby, OUC100, celebrates the century-long history of The Reliable One, Orlando Utilities Commission.
Over the past century, Orlando has seen many changes. Born of necessity, OUC was formed to meet the electricity and water needs of a rapidly growing community. The small group of commissioners who gathered in 1923 could have never imagined just how much the city would flourish over the next 100 years – becoming a major metropolitan area, with over 317,000 residents and a slew of world-class businesses and attractions that draw millions of visitors annually.
Presented in timeline form, our exhibit gives highlights of OUC’s unfolding story through historic photographs and graphics, as well as articles from our collection. As the organization celebrates its 100th anniversary, its milestones and accomplishments are not just part of their own history, but the history of our town.
