Opera Orlando’s upcoming show Rusalka, based on Dvořák’s tragic operatic version of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid, will include a new English translation for its site-specific production, inviting audiences to experience this dark, romantic work like never before.
This special preview evening will include selections from the opera, intertwined with historical commentary from the directors of two of Central Florida’s premier cultural destinations. The Orange County Regional History Center’s Pam Schwartz will focus on local historical and mythological ties, while Art and History Museums of Maitland’s Danielle Thomas, where the opera itself will be presented, will share about their Mayan-inspired architecture and artistic relevancy.
