Meet the Artists
Alema Pamela Watson
Alema Pamela Watson is a self-taught fiber artist who has been creating hand-quilted art for over 25 years. Born in Philadelphia, PA, and now residing in Altamonte Springs, FL, her work has been showcased throughout Central Florida at venues like Valencia College, the African-American Museum of the Arts, and the Hannibal Square Heritage Center. A member of the Story Quilters of Hannibal Square and Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA), Alema finds joy in expressing her creativity through quilting.
Marva Sloan
Born and raised in Lake County, FL, Marva Sloan discovered her passion for sewing during her high school home economics classes. Over the years, she has channeled her skills into mission outreach projects, creating clothing and quilts for children in Haiti and Africa. Inspired by Lauren Austin, Marva uses story quilting to share Biblical narratives through appliqué and traditional quilting techniques. A self-taught quilter, Marva delights in learning new methods from fellow artists.
Linda Mills Alexander
Originally from New York, Linda Mills Alexander relocated to Florida, where she raised three children. As a cancer survivor, she developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, which inspires her artistic creations. Linda’s quilting journey has served as a source of relaxation and meditation, reflecting her resilience and creativity throughout life’s challenges.
