History Center in the Classroom
Bring the History Center to your classroom! History-On-The-Go programs get students “into the act” with short one-act plays and puppet shows brought to your school. Presentations focus on Central Florida history and encourage audience interaction. In addition to the performance by our professional actors, you also receive curriculum materials designed to meet Sunshine State Standards. Please note that a mileage fee will be incurred for bookings more than 30 miles from the History Center.

Cow and Horse Pioneer Puppet Show
(Recommended for pre-K through grade 1)
Students are taken on a journey back to the early days of the Florida pioneers by “Buckaroo” and “Cowabunga.” Students learn how pioneers lived and survived on the open range. They’ll also compare the life of a pioneer to their own. Program Cost: $150. Duration: 20 minutes. Maximum Number of Students: 100.

Gator Tales Pioneer Puppet Show
(Recommended for pre-K through grade 1)
Bunk Baxter, the gator wrestler, and Al, the alligator, bump heads in the wilderness of Lake Margaret. Students learn how alligators live, eat, and hunt for food. They also learn from Bunk Baxter the dangers of the wilderness and gators. Program Cost: $150. Duration: 25 minutes. Maximum Number of Students: 100.

Pioneer Portraits
(Recommended for grades 2 and up)
Students interact with five famous historical figures from Florida’s past and discover how each of these unique and influential individuals helped shape Central Florida’s history. Program Cost: $150. Duration: 30 minutes. Maximum Number of Students: 150.

Set B: Estevanico, Lawrence Silas, Ray Charles, Josiah Wells, and Zora Neale Hurston

Cracker Family
(Recommended fo grades 3 and up)
Students interact with a Florida Cracker couple and explore the lives of Florida pioneers. How did they get food, build their homes, or earn money? What was life like for their children? Have these questions and more answered by this pioneer couple. Program Cost: $250. Duration: 30 minutes. Maximum Number of Students: 150.

The Four Henrys
(Recommended fo grades 3 and up)
Students journey back in time to learn about four famous men named Henry. Henry Morrison Flagler, Henry Bradley Plant, Henry Sanford, and Henry Ford made tremendous contributions to the development of modern Florida. Program Cost: $150. Duration: 30 minutes. Maximum Number of Students: 150.

Hands-on Theatre
(Recommended for grades 2 and up)
Students get an up-close and personal glimpse into the lives of characters throughout Central Florida’s history including cowmen, pioneers, Native Americans, conquistadors, famous authors, and more! Each character’s presentation is accompanied by a related hands-on activity. Please note that this program is intended for one class at a time. Program Cost: $5 per student. Duration: 20-30 minutes. Maximum Number of Students: 30.
